Leading Parent Partnership Award (LPPA)

Lakes Primary School is awarded the Leading Parent Partnership Award (LPPA) – July 2015
‘At the age of seven parental influence on learning is six times that of the school. At the age of eleven or twelve parental influence is 30 percent greater than that of the school. At no point does the school have the greater influence.’              Professor Charles Desforges, 2003
At Lakes Primary School we are always striving to develop and improve our links with parents. We are keen to develop many more aspects of our home-school partnership. On 10th July 2015, we achieved a national award – Leading Parent Partnership Award (LPPA). We were assessed when an external verifier spent an entire day in school, examining the learning environment and portfolio evidence as well as spending time talking to parents, staff and pupils.
This award looks at how well we work with parents and carers, how welcoming the school is and how we support parents in helping their child to learn. We aim to improve communication with parents and the community, support parents and children to extend their learning and to encourage a greater input and more involvement of parents in the wider life of the school. You can find out more about the Leading Parent Partnership Award via the LPPA website.

The joint NAHT and Family Action Guide is based on the latest research about what helps children to succeed at school.

The LPPA Award consists of ten evidence based objectives.

Objective 8 refers to the policies that we have in place as a school –  the following easy to read policies are provided for parents in a form that is easy to read, free of jargon and translated where appropriate: home-school learning, behaviour (including anti bullying) attendance and punctuality.
Important school policies can be located in the ‘Policies’ section of this website along with our new Home Learning Policy 2016. Please take the time to have a look through it, as it clearly sets out the purpose and benefits of home learning and the guidelines we follow when setting home learning activities for our children.
Objective 9  refers to the support that the school provides for parents as their children leave the school – there are clear procedures in place to support parents whose children leave during the school year, including those who have recently entered the country or have other additional needs.
