Lakes Primary School is a Beanstalk school. This is because we work with the Beanstalk charity – a national charity that recruits, vets, trains and supports volunteers who, in turn, provide one-to-one support in primary schools to children who may be falling behind with their reading. We currently have 4 reading helpers who work with pupils in Years 2, 3/4, 5 and Year 6: they work with 3 pupils, twice a week, in 30 minute sessions. Reading helpers will usually work with the same children for three to four terms.
